According to national health authorities, 324 new COVID-19 cases were reported in India in the past 24 hours. As a result, the total number of active cases across the country has risen to 6,815 as of 8 a.m. today. Additionally, 3 deaths were recorded during the same period. Since January this year, the total death toll due to COVID-19 has reached 68.
State-wise Situation
Kerala currently has the highest number of active cases in the country, with 2,053 ongoing cases.
Karnataka reported 136 new cases in the last 24 hours, pushing its active case count to 559.
Gujarat logged 129 new cases, with active infections now totaling 1,109.
Emerging Variants:
According to INSACOG reports, India has reported 163 cases of the XFG variant, a subvariant of Omicron now circulating globally. Among these:

Tamil Nadu: 16 cases
