The Monsoon Session of the Indian Parliament will commence on July 21 and continue until August 12, 2025, as officially announced by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. This will be the first session after Operation Sindoor, a major anti-terror response initiated by India following the tragic Pahalgam attack on April 22, which claimed 26 lives—many of whom were tourists.
This session is expected to focus on key issues such as national security, especially in light of recent developments in Kashmir. While opposition leaders had earlier demanded a special session to discuss Operation Sindoor and related events, Minister Rijiju clarified that the Monsoon Session will provide ample opportunity for debate on these matters within the normal framework of Parliament.
The proceedings of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on July 21. This will mark the first reconvening of Parliament since the Budget Session concluded on April 4, 2025, ending a three-month recess.
