Thalliki Vandanam Scheme – Empowering Education in Andhra Pradesh

Education is the greatest gift for the future generation. To ensure that no child is deprived of education due to poverty, the Andhra Pradesh government has launched the Thalliki Vandanam scheme. Under this initiative, the government provides ₹15,000 per student annually, directly credited to the mother’s bank account, to support the continuation of their children's education.

This scheme benefits students from Class 1 to 12, studying in government or recognized private schools. The scheme applies to every eligible child in a family, including those in private institutions. It is one of the ‘Super Six’ promises of the current coalition government led by Chandrababu Naidu.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must be a resident of Andhra Pradesh.

  • Student must have at least 75% attendance.

  • The mother must have a valid bank account.

  • Family income should be below ₹2 lakh per annum.

  • Children of government employees and public representatives are not eligible.

Key Differences from ‘Amma Vodi’:

  • Under the previous Amma Vodi scheme, ₹15,000 was granted, but ₹2,000 was deducted for school maintenance.

  • In Thalliki Vandanam, the entire ₹15,000 is credited to the mother without any deductions.

  • The scheme covers all children in the family, unlike earlier.

Application Process:

Currently, there is no online application system. The government collects student data through schools, and eligible beneficiaries are identified accordingly. Mothers can contact the school headmaster for enrollment.

Required Documents:

  • Aadhaar cards (mother and student)

  • Mother’s bank account details

  • School certificate or confirmation

  • Income certificate

  • Address proof

  • Attendance proof

  • Passport-size photos

Important: NPCI Linking Mandatory

The mother's bank account must be linked with Aadhaar (NPCI linkage) to receive funds. This can be done via bank branches, mobile apps, or MeeSeva centers. Proper eKYC and household data registration are also required.

Selection Process:

Applications and documents are reviewed based on eligibility. Once verified, the ₹15,000 amount is directly deposited into the mother's bank account.

In conclusion, Thalliki Vandanam aims to promote education and reduce dropouts by providing financial aid to poor families. The scheme ensures transparency and broader coverage than previous programs, making it a key step toward educational development in the state.
