Epic – First Semester is a Telugu romantic drama directed by Aditya Haasan, featuring Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya in the lead roles. Aditya (Anand Deverakonda) is a young man who dreams of becoming a filmmaker. However, his parents have different plans for his future and send him to the UK for higher studies.
A completely unfamiliar environment, a new country and the pressures of education and career bring several changes to Aditya's life. During his time in London, he meets Kadali (Vaishnavi Chaitanya), an independent young woman dealing with her own personal and family pressures.
What begins as a casual relationship gradually develops into something more complicated. The film focuses on how two young people navigate love, personal freedom, expectations and the realities of life away from home.
Performances
Anand Deverakonda delivers a natural performance as Aditya. His portrayal of a young man caught between his dreams and his family's expectations gives the character an identifiable quality.
Vaishnavi Chaitanya is equally effective as Kadali. Her character is confident and independent, and she gets several moments to showcase her acting ability.
The biggest strength of the film is undoubtedly the chemistry between Anand and Vaishnavi. Their pairing, which was already popular after Baby, works well again in several emotional and lighter moments.
